Meet the Staff of Zion UCC of Tremont

The Rev. Dr. Joyce T. Morris, Zion's Intentional Interim Pastor, is a native of Columbus, OH. She is the mother of three, and grandmother of four. She is a graduate of Capital University, Columbus, and received her Master of Divinity degree from The Methodist Theological School (Methesco), Delaware, OH. She received her Doctorate from United Theological Seminary in Dayton, OH.
In addition, she is a trained Intentional Interim minister, having received her certification from the Interim Ministry Network, Baltimore, MD. Her hobbies are reading, music (she plays the cello), and wood crafting.
She currently resides in Tremont with her dog, Mr. Barney and cat, Miss Lois. Joyce is active on the Partners in Program committee and the HIV-AIDS working group of the Western Reserve Association. She also served four years in the Department of Church and Ministry of the WRA. Rev. Morris works as an on-call chaplain at Fairview Hospital, where she has served for several years.

Donna Herbster, Pastoral Care Intern, has been approved by the credentialing committee of the WRA to serve her internship at Zion UCC of Tremont. She will be working primarily with the Drop-in Center and Drop-in Meals Program and will serve the congregation in the absence of our pastor. A native of Cleveland, Donna is a member of Clague Road UCC where she holds the Christian Education chair, serves on church council, on the nominating committee and pastor-parish relations board. She is also in chancel choir and bell choir. She is pursuing license as a pulpit supply minister, and pastoral care training with Rev. Morris also has applied for the Clinical Pastoral Education Program at Southwest Hospital. Her background education includes the UCC Lay School of the Church and Trinity Seminary where she is pursuing a degree in Theology. She received the President’s Volunteer award 2004.
Owned by three cats - Pilgrim, Moses, and Singer, Donna is single and likes camping and Science Fiction. Big on Star Trek, she attended Klingon Language Camp. She collects crosses and theology books as well as grows strawberries. If you haven’t already met her, stop by some Saturday evening. She is a joy.

Tina Fitzgerald: Voluntary Church Secretary since Autumn of 1998, Tina first visited Zion United Church of Christ for an ecumenical Community Worship Service on Thanksgiving Eve, 1995, and soon joined the church in May, 1996. She co-chaired our 130th Church Anniversary celebration in 1997 and served as a member of our Church Council. She assists the Lively Ones regularly with our monthly Rummage Sale which is held on the second Saturday of each month on the second floor of our School Building. In August of 2005, she was installed as an elder of the church. Tina lives on Cleveland’s west side.

Joanne M. Popp: Voluntary Administrative Assistant to the Pastor and a lifetime resident of Cleveland, Joanne met her husband Robert, an Akron native, camping. They married in November, 1989. She has a daughter from her first marriage as well as a son, and daughter she was blessed with by her husband's first marriage. She and Bob have 2 cats, Stripe and Sheena and a dog, Sable. Joanne enjoys cooking, dancing, reading, camping, fishing and spends much of her time on the computer.
Joanne visited Zion in July 1999 while still a member of Emanuel Christian Fellowship Church. When Emanuel closed she began to attend Zion regularly. In January 2001, she and Bob officially became members of Zion.  Joanne prepares the weekly service bulletin and maintains our website.

E. Pat Steinman – while maintaining a successful carpentry business of his own, Pat has also served as custodian of Zion Church for a number of years. In addition to his regular Saturday cleaning sessions, he has worked on a number of larger carpentry and maintenance projects for the church and church members. Pat and his partner, Susan, live in Westlake, Ohio.
