The Lord laid it on my heart to become more involved in mission work beyond ministering at the Patuxent Institution in Jessup, Maryland. In 2016, I was extended the opportunity to journey to the Dominican Republic to serve on the mission field—distributing food, participating in dental clinics, helping with housing projects and sharing the unadulterated gospel of Jesus Christ. My desire to be of service to others turned into a journey of being blessed by those I sought to serve. My life changed immensely with my first mission trip; and, has continued to flourish with each subsequent trip. God has shown himself strong and mighty to all his people—those who went to serve and those designated to receive. I learned that regardless of circumstances, everyone has something to contribute—I just needed to step aside and let God move to the forefront. Even though there was a language barrier, the Holy Spirit knew no boundary—God is God wherever you go and the message still resonates.
I am eternally grateful to Zion Church for welcoming me and giving me the opportunity to meet such wonderful people with whom to serve in the field. Truly the harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few!
